Goals to Awards
Goals = Awards! Here is a picture of me and my 2010 RE/MAX 100% club award .
We just had our awards banquet for RE/MAX Gold and the crowd was a lot smaller than normal this year. I am really very proud of this years award. I have lots of awards and usually once I achieve them I move on to the next. But, 2010 was a tough year. In 2009 I missed my goal by just a little, but I was not going to let that happen in 2010.
I am a strong believer in setting Goals. In my prior life I worked as a Manager for Bel Air markets. Grocery stores have very high standards for their employees and Bel Air sent their managers to the best training available. I attended a time management class (Dale Carnegie I believe) this was years ago (decades actually). In the class the instructor challenged everyone to write down unachievable goals. To make sure you were not writing down just a bunch of things you really knew you could or would do, but to actually write down goals you did not think you could ever achieve or would be very difficult to achieve.
So, I went home and told my husband about the challenge. We were a young married couple at the time with two small children at home living paycheck to paycheck. But we did as the instructor had said and we wrote down a five-year list of things we wanted to achieve. At the time we really went for it. We did NOT think we could achieve the goals we wrote down. The next step was to just put the list away, hide it and forget about it. Well, we did. We actually forgot all about it. Which was not difficult with two small children and very busy schedules. I don’t know how we came upon the list again about a year later. We sat down and looked at the list and we had achieved every single goal in a year not in five. We just kinda looked at each other surprised. An ah ha moment for sure. It wa funny the goals did not seem so unachievable anymore. We were thinking “hmm, why did we think we couldn’t do this”? Well, we were pretty pleased with ourselves. Write down your goals you want to achieve and hide them away somewhere. Once you write down a goal, your brain will figure out a way to achieve your goal.

What You Need To Know About Today’s Sellers: Financial Pressures
I thought my first blog post would be fun and I imagined it would be about how much I love Real Estate but….I decided that I wanted my first post to reflect the times we are in. They are very difficult times and we have a long way to go in this recovery. It will be a very slow recovery.
In this article 1 in 3 homeowners sold their home because they were underwater. I have some personal knowledge in this area I will save for another post. If I forget or you just can’t wait–call me for the details!
